Hasselblad H3D Studioday

06/03/2009 Hasselblad (UK) Limited launched a new series of events during this years’ Focus on Imaging exhibition at the NEC. The idea is simple - to put the H3D system into the hands of photographers, so that they can experience for themselves the benefits of shooting with a Hasselblad medium format digital camera.

Listening to photographers, Hasselblad has found that there were a number of them, with peculiar ideas about what a Hasselblad is capable of.  There were those who thought that Hasselblad cameras are complicated to use, that the software isn’t easily understood and only on a Mac platform, or that they are ridiculously expensive to buy.

Hasselblad would like to put the record straight, and give you the opportunity to experience it for yourself. We know you’ll be amazed.

Costing under £10,000 (plus VAT), the H3DII-31 complete with a standard 80mm lens, delivers true, medium format quality, with 16bit files that will truly take your breath away.

Focus2009_02Handling the camera in a live shoot also demonstrates how easy it is to use a Hasselblad (either in automatic or manual setting), showing that it is much the same as using a professional 35mm DSLR.  Processing the RAW files couldn’t be simpler either, with Hasselblad’s Phocus software (available for PC or Mac), it’s straightforward and logical in use, whilst producing the best and most consistent image quality available.

Building on the success of the H3D Studioday held at Focus, Hasselblad is now running a series of events around the UK during April 2009, from Poole to Bristol, London to Birmingham and Edinburgh to Glasgow.  Most will be held in local Studios, though Calumet will be running a Hasselblad Week in all it’s stores, starting the 30th March.

The free H3D Studioday events will consist of a live model shoot, a still life setup – utilizing the new Hasselblad HTS1.5 tilt and shift adapter – and an opportunity to process your own files through Phocus software.  There will be a wide range of other Hasselblad HC and HCD lenses and accessories to try too. Photographers will be able to take away sample files and software so that they can continue to assess the software and the image quality themselves.

Places are of course limited, so if you would like to participate at an
